I was born and raised in Tempe, Arizona. I began my teaching career in California. My first class was bilingual Kindergarten. It was during this first year when I discovered my passion for quality education for all students. I have had the opportunity to teach many different grade levels in different school settings. I have truly enjoyed working with Jr. High, and High School students in facilitating their learning and exposing them to future possibilities. I work with students with varied language abilities to access the curriculum in the content areas while developing their English proficiency. It is my goal to provide all students with an excellent education, and equal opportunities.

Overall Objectives and Performance Skills:

The following specific types of learning experiences (units, projects, etc.), will be provided during this course in order for students to achieve proficiency for the Arizona Viewing, Presenting, Listening, Speaking, and Workplace Content.

  • Collaborative and individual class work
  • Research Projects
  • Informal and formal speeches
  • Guest speakers

Classroom Expectations and Policies:

Students must be able to demonstrate a clear and reliable understanding of key content areas. It will not be sufficient to get the right answer on the final exam (although this will be required, as well); students must be able to demonstrate knowledge through the final portfolio. Each student’s grasp of the content requirements will also be observed in classroom discussions and activities as well as a student led conference.
